'People are intimidated' - why 'juggernaut' Arsenal have become the squad everyone fears.

There's little doubt why Arsenal are now numerous fans' favorites to win the Premier League in the current campaign.

Examine their results against West Ham and Crystal Palace in contrast with those equivalent matches in the previous campaign.

The Gunners have defeated all of them in the current season, but surrendered 10 points across those games as they fell away in the title race previously.

Defensive Prowess

Arsenal's backline resilience is a crucial element why they are seeming ready to ultimately achieve their title goal.

They rank top for shutouts (6), shots let in (3), opposition efforts (72), shots on target faced (19) and expected goals against (5.3).

The central defensive pairing of Gabriel and William Saliba is potentially the best in the league, with Arsenal recording a clean sheet in six of their first nine games.

Dead-Ball Dominance

Their effectiveness from free kicks is well known, but rival sides still find it difficult to contain the Gunners from these situations.

They have notched 11 times from set-pieces in the league, two more than any other side, with 69% of their goals coming from these situations.

"Arsenal can excel in various aspects now. The whole team has a daunting aura. People are just wary of them and it is great to see."

Championship Pedigree

What is particularly impressive about Arsenal's beginning to the campaign is they have also encountered Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United away from home and Manchester City on home turf - and are still leading by four at the top.

While they maintain victories, their traditional rivals are struggling. This marks the premier instance at this stage of the season since 1992 that none of Manchester City and United, Liverpool or Chelsea are in the Premier League top four.

The scrutiny was on head coach Mikel Arteta at the start, having allocated around £250m on eight summer additions in search of that coveted first title since 2004.

But the business has so far proven successful in style, with his side second top scorers in the league and possessing the most resilient defense, despite numerous injuries.

  • Shutouts in three consecutive Premier League games
  • Nearly 6.5 hours without conceding a goal
  • Only a trio of goals in 12 games across every tournament

Former players and analysts have characterized Arteta's men as a "unstoppable force, looking challenging to stop" with the whole club now performing with conviction and resolve.
